The Real Story
I have spent the last 14 years in corporate America working for companies across the spectrum from industrial giants with 80,000 employees all the way to agile startups with 12 employees. With a background in biomedical engineering, my career began in technical engineering roles but eventually branched into sales, marketing and product development. Think of me as an operator-turned-coach. I know the broad types of challenges faced by businesses, from launching products to engaging employees.
My personal life however was marked by grief and heartbreak. My loving yet dysfunctional family split when I was 8. By age 18 I had lived in 17 different homes on 3 different continents. At 23 I lost my father to brain cancer. I sailed from New Orleans to Ecuador to then narrowly survive an 8.0 earthquake. Entering my 30’s I woke up in a broken marriage and knew that I could no longer continue sacrificing myself. I spent my childhood mediating family disputes as the peacekeeper, and then my adulthood in therapy and couples counseling to undo all the learned maladaptive behaviors.
After my divorce I found somatic modalities (a type of therapy that engages body intelligence) which helped me release years of grief and reconnect to my sense of self. From honestly facing and then overcoming these personal challenges I developed a unique point of view, and found new strength and resilience strategies that also have relevance in the modern professional world.
My unique approach to coaching is rooted in what helped me move through these experiences. I take cues from relational therapy and organizational psychology to bridge the void between colleagues. Whether startup co-founders are proactively laying the groundwork for a solid partnership or a company’s cross-functional teams are failing to collaborate in a competitive environment, I foster empathetic communication and relational-awareness.
If you are going to be responsible for the success of your company, you must first take responsibility for YOU. Bringing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and courageous leadership to the table WILL drive positive impact in your team and your business. If you want professional support from someone with solid business experience as well as personal and interpersonal wisdom, you’ve come to the right place.
